Face search policy

Updated October 6, 2026

What face search is

Face search lets a parent or guardian upload a photo of their child's face and find photos of them in the galleries they can already see. It is off by default: it works only in games where the photographer switched it on after families were told about it, and only for people who agree to this policy.

What we collect

  • From photos in those games: face measurements (a list of numbers describing each face — a "face template"). Not the face images themselves.
  • From your search: your uploaded photo is used once to make a template for that search. It is never stored, and the template is discarded straight after.
  • We keep only a count of searches and results, to prevent misuse.

How it's used

Only to help families find their photos in our galleries. Face data is never sold, rented, shared with anyone, used for advertising, used to identify people outside our galleries, or used to train AI. It is processed on our own computer, not by outside services.

Consent

Searching requires you to confirm you are 18 or older and the parent or legal guardian of the child in the photo (or that it is you). For games in states with biometric privacy laws (such as Illinois, Texas and Washington) we switch face search on only with written consent from the families.

Retention and destruction

  • A game's face templates are permanently deleted when face search is turned off for it, when the game is archived, or at the latest 12 months after it was turned on — whichever comes first.
  • On request we remove a person from face search in every game, permanently: re-indexing skips them.
  • You can withdraw your consent any time on your Account page.

Requests

To remove your child from face search or ask anything about this policy: reply to any email you've received from us.
